my father spent a lot of time in his workshop this past fall and i had been wondering and wondering what he had been working on - since no one was allowed in! it turns out he was working on a lot of amazing christmas presents which i thought i would share!
this is a beautiful bowl that he carved for me out of tiger maple (which looks even cooler in person) - he also made another one for my mom! it is so smooth...it is hard to believe that it was carved!

 

this is something i have been asking for for a long time! my dad made a few of these many years ago and i had wanted one of my own! he did such a good job on the details...look at the eyes...

 

this is a beautiful jewelry box that he made! he also made a similar one for my brother!

 

and these he made for my mom...he used that beautiful tiger maple again. he made her two cheese plates and then also made handles for different cheese knives...everything turned out so nicely! love it all!

i saw this the other day on one of the many martha stewart blogs and i thought it was a simple idea. and since i hadn't gotten a new 2011 wall calendar, i thought i would give it a try! i made mine with a few slightly different supplies...instead of spray painting masonite board, i just used white foam core, and i also used ribbon instead of the paper tape (though i wish i had used the tape - it probably would have made this go a lot faster, but my tape order hadn't come in yet!) oh and i also just recently bought some calendar stamps, so i thought i would use them some too...except there aren't many holidays in january... but i am sure throughout the year i will be able to use them more!

(and sorry these photos aren't that wonderful - it started to get dark as i was working on this, so i just took a few quick photos as i went along to show my process)

nationals.

i saw this over on brand new yesterday morning and i was so happy! i have always had a MAJOR issue with the nationals logos (since i am a big phillies fan - we see the nationals a lot)...mainly because of the complete inconsistency between of the curvy 'w' and the monstrous block letters. in normal design i don't mind the mixture of different fonts...but these two were just sending completely different messages. and don't get me wrong, i am not completely in love with this new logo either, but i am just glad they decided to pick one direction...i think it will give them a much more cohesive look!

i saw these bottles over on the dieline blog...and i just thought the little duck images were really cute...especially the ducks with the little snow hats on! hahaha
