grace kelly.
for my film studies class, we had to watch alfed hitchcock's rear window with grace kelly and james stewart (i really like him) from 1954. so far i really like it, i am not quite done yet though, but in it grace kelly wears the most beautiful dress:
i just think that it is absolutely beautiful! i have always liked a lot of the dresses from that time period and this definitely isn't an exception!
these pictures are alright, but they don't really do it justice...so i actually found some opening clips from the movie, so you can actually see the dress!

marc johns.
i saw some of these watercolors the other day and thought they were funny! these are by marc johns - he does a lot of watercolor illustrations that are really fun. i really like his style of drawing and also the humor he uses in his illustrations.
i especially like the mock designer illustrations...they are done on post-its...and there are a few more on his website that i listed below.
this is a link to his site...he has a ton of drawings on there...some i thought were great, others were just weird.

slanted notebook.
i totally do this when i write in notebooks:
these are slant ruled notebooks that with 45 degree ruled lines so that you can write on an angle without turning your notebook! though i think i might do this out of habit and not so much that i actually need the lines slanted...but still a neat idea!

dirty laundry.
i think that these ads are great! i love how they used the dirty/grungy laundry to create old monuments - i think the underwear is the best...hahaha! these ads were created by the leo burnett advertising agency from frankfurt, germany.
can you tell what the three monuments are? the only one i had a hard time with was the third image of the series and after knowing what it is i can see it, but it definitely wasn't as clear as the other ones! i found these images here (this website, ads of the world, has a lot of great stuff and i have gotten a lot of post ideas from there!)
and for those of you who are curious about the different monuments, here you go -------> the first one is stonehenge, the second is pont avignon, and the third is the akropolis (see what i mean - i definitely don't see that as much as the others, but i still really enjoy the campaign).

doggie dentures.
i saw this ad on tv the other day and thought it was so funny! and when i was online i actually saw a print advertisement for it - but i felt the commercial was better, so i included that below. i'm not going to lie, during the opening of the ad i actually thought that they had this and all of the dogs with human teeth were creeping me out! hahaha but i should have known. i love how the one dog is like "you're kidding-right?"
i don't think the design of the print ad is anything special...i just find the idea so funny and somewhat ridiculous! if you want to see the ad in better quality go here!
and sorry i didn't get a chance to post much this week...its been busy!

cards.
i have found that every year when i go back to school - for many different reasons - i don't get a chance to create any cards. it annoys me because then by the time i am done with my semester i have pretty much gotten out of my card making routine and then forget about making cards for a few months. well this year i decided to bring more of my scrap booking supplies with me to school in order to keep my brain in card-creative mode (because obviously when i am at school i am constantly working on design projects, but it is definitely a different kind of design). so i am hoping to start something new on my blog: i am going to try and post a new card design every week!
i am really hoping that i will be able to keep up with it this semester. i actually have a very hectic schedule this semester...so closer to graduation i probably won't have as much time to do this. i have recently been starting to submit my card designs to different card magazines and i think that will help me to keep designing! here is my first card for this week:
i found a couple new stamp sets from papertrey ink (say it with style - which i absolutely love! and polka dot basics) so i wanted to experiment with them in this card...and i most likely will be using these a lot in the next few weeks. there are so many different things that you can do with them! but the polka dots just come in a couple strips, so you have to stamp them over and over to make a pattern and it actually came out nicely...i was concerned they would be crooked or unevenly spaced! hope everyone has a nice weekend!
