linda & harriet.

i love all of the things in linda and harriet's shop! they use such cute images - i have their 2009 calendar, and at some point i want to get all of the pages framed! they have a new calendar coming out in august for 2011 and once you are done using it, they can be used as fun postcards - absolutely love their style!

okay, okay, i know. summer slacking has gotten the best of me. so i am sorry. i will try to be better about the posting! for today i just thought i would share this commercial that i thought was funny! i haven't tried them yet - but they sound pretty amazing to me!

city farmers.

i saw these ads the other day over on ads of the world...i thought they were pretty clever - the first one is my favorite...and the last one is kinda gross, but it makes the point!

stamps.

these calligraphy stamps are just amazing. i am working on designing some of my own custom stamps at the moments and these serve as some great inspiration!

i don't usually love vintagey stuff...but these chairs are definitely changing that! love the colors and styles...i would give you the link for them over at anthropologie...but by the time i got a chance to blog about them, they were all sold out! can't image why? hahaha

52 weeks.

i saw this idea on a blog the other day and i think it is such a wonderful idea! the couple just recently had a baby so they have decided to document the baby's growth by taking a photograph every single week with a white onesie (and a little photoshop numbering!)...and at the end of the year they will have 52 fabulous photos to keep all together! here are the first four photos so far...but you can follow the rest over on their flickr stream!

i saw this package design for whittard of chelsea the other day on lovely package and i think they are very fun! i like the cutout of the b on the packaging, as well as the way they created the holes for the b! and i of course like the colors! hahaha

berry tarts.

the other morning i saw this beautiful photo of a berry tart and it looked sooo yummy that i decided to make my own - since the recipe was provided by the blog tartelette! (you can find the recipe here if you also feel like making these beautiful tarts!)
before i start with my own photos i need to mention that these photos are really not that wonderful because a. they are not complete (i didn't think about documenting this for my blog until i was already half done) and b. because i was on a tight time frame and quickly took the photos...but at least you get a sense of the process!

i had already made the dough...so to bake the crust you have to bake it with weights (dry beans) on the dough to keep it from bubbling...

and the crust is complete!

i had to roll out more dough to make the strips for on top of the tart.

then i filled them with fresh raspberries and blackberries...along with some sugar and ginger!

then i topped them with the strips...i would have done a criss cross pattern but i was starting to lose my patience with these haha so i just laid the strips over top.

and then they were baked to perfection :)

overall i am very happy with how they turned out - the berries were very tasty! i have never made a "pie" crust before so that part was a little tricky...if you add too much liquid the crust becomes tough. the crust was very good - well at least for my first time hahaha they tasted good...but i have decided that tarts look prettier than they taste...what i mean by that is that i would much rather of had a piece of pie since there is definitely more flavor in a pie...but i just wanted to experiment!

mondrian.

this is really cool. i saw this cake today over on cake wrecks (a blog that is extremely entertaining!) this cake is pretty cool - i like that is was inspired by piet mondrian!

but then i saw this other cake that is even better:

i can't even imagine how long it tool to make that but that is ridiculously awesome. it looks just like one of his paintings...just edible! sick!
